Japanese Special Natural Monument "Marimo in Lake Akan"

This is a reconstruction of the Marimo’s community and its circumference environment at the time Lake Akan was filling clear and beautiful water.
Lake Akan is the only habitat in the world of the Marimo becoming spherical and large.
Marimo, as a Japanese Special Natural Monument, is an emblem of the natural beauty of Akan.
However, the Marimo population has been decreasing because of deterioration of growth environment in recent years.
